Dear Bill (Salmon) and Jim (Wiegel),

As I recall things back when I was assigned to Research Centrum, the work
of transposing John (plus the development of a study guide) was done by
John Epps and Bill and Nan Grow for use by Bishop Jim, initially with his
UMC District Superintendents when he was Bishop serving in the DC Area,
and probably later, with pastors throughout the districts. It may have
been that the Grows and Epps actually provided the initial training in
the methods, I can't recall.

Bill and Nan, might you weigh in on this? I know that a number of Joe
Crocker's UMC colleagues from New England, who later became highly placed
in the UMC hierarchy, have spoken enthusiastically over the decades to
Joe and me about the value of this profound curriculum, as well as many
other EI constructs offered to the wider connectional system through
Bishop Jim, both here in New England and in his other Episcopacies.

I'm thinking this falls into the category of "What God Has Wrought."

Grace and peace,

Marilyn

My best recollection is that this was, essentially, an Art Form
Conversation. I'll see what I can find. Also, LeRoy Philbrook fixed the
Buddah document for me, and I'll see what kind of a chart I can quickly
produce. Bill

Yes, at breakfast collegium . . . a verse from the lectionary . . . the
scripture part of the scripture / news conversations

I remember John Epps and others developing some sort of approach for
transposing 1st John . . .

Maybe I'm out of the loop here, but give me a little more context.
Was this "scripture conversation" used in which course? Are you speaking
of the Gospel Lection? What is the context of your question regarding
being "transposed in the 1st John work?"
At 5th City AM collegiums we once did Scripture Conversations tied to
5 minutes of TV "World" conversations" too.
I've got pretty good notes that I "borrowed" from several substantial
Academy staff, plus I've got my own and Beverly's notes as well, and I
can do a search if it is necessary.

What were the questions for the scripture conversation? Was it the
capital verse? Also, was this verse transposed in the 1st John work?
