I asked Judy Harvie to ask Tatwa for his vision of ICAI. We recently
received the following from him. I also have his bio, if anyone would like
to see it.

INTRODUCTION:
I am Tatwa P. Timsina, 42 years Nepali citizen. I am the founding chairman
of ICA Nepal and at present President of ICA International. I have been
associated with Tribhuvan University as a Lecturer of Human Ecology since
1989. I have two kids, studying at class 8 and 4.
I live in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. I work for ICA Nepal.
Through ICA Nepal, I work in the field of facilitation and human development
activities in various parts of the country. I support the national team to
develop proposal and seek for funding support to run human development
activities.
MY AFFILIATION WITH ICA:
When I was studying Human Ecology in Brussels, I came in touch with ICA
Belgium and then to ICA International. After participating Group
Facilitation Method training, I became more interested to ICA since I
thought these are the tools and techniques that we need in Nepal. This
encouraged me to explore more about ICA.
I played a catalytic role in establishing ICA Nepal. It is following ICA
philosophy through various programmes on training, facilitation and human
development projects. ICA Nepal conducts Technology of Participation courses
frequently in Nepal. It is also operating human development projects in
about 10 districts of Nepal.
We are in a very difficult period of our history. Technology of
Participation and other ICA tools and techniques are very relevant to our
context. We are able to build hopes among our people even in the despair of
conflict by using these methods. We are able to generate new kind of
leadership in the country.
VISION FOR ICA INTERNATIONAL:
My vision for ICAI is very much similar to vision of all the people who work
for ICAs globally. I want to see ICAI as a strong organization on networking
all the national ICAs enabling them to work effectively by applying ICA
approaches. We should continue our mission of lifelong learning,
participation and sustainable development globally. ICAI can play an active
role in motivating and encouraging local ICAs to work with close network.
Although, ICAI is not strong financially, it should be the symbol of hope
for all the ICAs. It should be a popular and effective name for
participation, human transformation and development.
ICAI can also play an active role in global policy dialogue on human
development and participation issues. We can make international networks
with similar organisations. As ICAI, we should strive for sustaining and
promoting such networks.
In order to build strong network, ICAI should continue global conferences
such as Guatemala Conference that we recently organised. The Guatemala
conference was an opportunity for all of us to see and share with people
working for similar cause. It was a chance to share our work among the
global participants. It also helped to clarify our stance at global level.
ICA International is always a unique organisation. Despite several ebbs and
flows, it is working hard for human factor in development. The mission of
ICAI has worldwide application in all the time scale; past, present and
future.
