Places In The Heart (1984, Sally Field)

On the surface a simple narrative, clichéd even.

But beneath the storyline unfolds a collective spiritual journey about how
unique, struggling individuals can come together in adversity and through a
shared mission overcome poverty, racism, sexism, and other seemingly
immovable obstacles, and become more than they were.

And the last scene is breathtaking, as God's love touches everyone.
Startling.

Sally deserved her second Oscar for this performance.

Don't let the "aw shucks" patina fool you. The Mystery runs deep in this
one.
