Yup, John Cock, this has been going on for sometime.  I've heard that 
Tom Oden, once a liberal voice at Phillips in Oklahoma, went 
conservatine and is heading up IRD, and is a professor at Drew.  
Someone else on the dialogue may want to correct that.   Good News and 
the Confessing Movement in the Methodist church have for several years 
been assisting people financially to get their Ph.D.s to teach in the 
denomination's seminaries.  If anyone is interested there are several 
books out talking about this.
