My last contact with Mark was when I was in Seattle for an Episcopal
conference for ministries to the poor and oppressed. I was fortunate enough
to catalyze a gathering of a number of colleagues from that area. Claudia
Cramer was there and died shortly thereafter. Now another great human being
has departed since that gathering. Mark had picked me up and delivered me
back to the University of Washington campus. We had some depth conversations
about the Order experience that included gifts and deep struggles which we
both shared. My experience of that event was that my colleague was a man of
depth integrity and continued devotion to the God of history. I am truly
saddened by his death and thankful to have journeyed with him.

The family of Mark Poole has asked me to let you know that Mark passed away
this morning at his home. His wife, Jean, and sister, Marian Karpoff were
with him when he died. Family is gathering in Seattle. There will be a
memorial service Saturday, October 9th. The time of the memorial is to be
determined. He will be missed by the community he touched so deeply with
his passion and his care.
If you would like to communicate with Jean and the family, the address is:
12036 Hiram Place NE
Seattle, WA 98125-5324
More will be posted here when it is known.
Peace,
Michael Shaw
