Marilyn and Joe,
Although I did not know Dr. Harry Bliss, hearing about him was indeed a
pleasure, actually a piece of encouragement as our Denver Team, about six of
us, are delighted that this Friday evening we'll have the orientation for our
First Neighborhood Academy. Our partner is Rocky Mt. Mutual Housing who
provide housing mainly for immigrants. We hope that one of our Denver colleagues
by "observing and assisting" will in the process become better trained to take
on more assignments. And we're looking forward t in the new year to offer
training in literacy that Keith Packard's Learning Basket project provides in
both Spanish and English for infants from 3months and toddlers up to age 3
(or is it through age 3)!.
With a new colleague, a Quaker, who has experienced time with Buddhism,
we've just recently read Compassionate Listening by Gene Knudsen Hoffman, a
Quaker Peacemaker and Mystic, and now into a most thoughtfully written book,The
Soul of Politics by Jim Wallis, published nine years ago but extremely
relevant to the present.
Do hope that this finds you both well and in touch with the Institute
which still feeds my spirit.
          Best wishes,
Ruth Reames, from long, long ago
