Top 10 Major Gift Suggestions for this Holiday Season That You Can't Get at

Wal-Mart

 

THE FUTURE:  A promise to a known child or grandchild that you will use

substantially less of the earth1s resources next year than you did this

year.

 

CHOICE- BUTTER Versus GUNS: A promise to an unknown child who lives in a

third world country that you will work to convert a portion of our country1s

defense spending to eliminate hunger and cure disease.

 

INTIMACY:  A promise to a friend, spouse, or lover that you will spend more

time with sharing aspirations and fears.

 

COMMON GROUND: A promise to a political opponent that you will work harder

next year to understand their point of view and find common ground.

 

RECONCILIATION: A promise to a relative or person that you have been angry

with for too long that you will release your anger and work towards

reconciliation.

 

WISDOM: A promise that you will try harder to hear the wisdom that both

elders and youngsters are offering.

 

UNDERSTANDING: A promise to a person or persons that you feel prejudice

towards that you will work harder to love people because of who they are and

not what they are.

 

 HEALTH:  A promise to yourself that you will exercise at least 30 minutes a

day 4 times a week.  That is one of the best gifts that you can give the

rest of us. 

 

EDUCATION:  A promise that you will read more books, especially books that

inspire, and watch less television.

 

COMPASSION: A promise that you will write me and other similar insecure

writers occasionally this year either to agree with what we write or to let

us know why you don't.

COMMITMENT: A promise to use my wisdom to see people through rather than

using it to see through people.
