Jim Johnson; Mark Reames; Craig Webb; Art Smith; Ruth Larsen; E. Lee
Sugg; Terrence Wright; others; and now Ruthe Yost. We in the Denver
Region of the ICA have experienced separation via death to the extent
of feeling that it has been more than our share. But then we recall our
common faith, based on the Word about Life, and we, to a person, are
able to continue to say YES TO LIFE AS IT IS, and to go on living our
own lives.
That said, details from the life, including the death, of Ruthe need
recalled for all of us, including our larger movement of colleagues. I
can remember 'snapshots' of vision into Ruthe's life. Here are two:
* At her and George's 50th Wedding Anniversary, when the layout of
pictures and the sharing of stories about this great woman and her
family overwhelmed me, as exemplified when (I swear) six generations of
Yosts formed a chorus and filled the room of celebration with heavenly
harmony.
* At her mother's funeral in Loveland, Colorado, when I first
understood from whence came the strength and wisdom, faith and
determination of this giant of a woman, Ruthe.
May the Mystery continue to strengthen us with new colleagues, and with
the power received through shared stories from the lives of those who
have died on the march. Stories from the lives of people like Ruthe
Yost.
Grace and peace,
Jim Slotta
