Thanks, Marsha for reminding me about Alleene's service to the Houston
House as grocery shopper!. I remember enjoying some festive, healthy meals
at her home -- she was careful not to use MSG long before I understood
personally its detrimental effects. Alleene helped me plan my 40th
Birthday party -- including the food! In her (our) later years, our paths
regrettably did not cross as much. More often, I would meet Alleene's
husband Joe in the grocery store, where now he was doing the shopping.
In the early '80's Alleene hosted a women's study group in her home (she
always had a good spirit book or movie to recommend). On one occasion she
presented each of us participants with a painting she had done -- capturing
with paint, color and form what she saw as our unique essence. After her
daughter Alice Rebecca (along with Margynel) founded Avalon Academy, she
contributed and followed its progress for many years as well as the
blossoming of the children attending there. Passionate about creating a
world filled with unconditional love and revealing the world of spirit, she
was generous in encouraging children (and all) to be fully themselves. I
think it is fitting that she left this life at the very time that her
brother Joe's talks were being re-introduced to the "Spirit Movement" and
the wider world. She had wanted that. Perhaps too, Alleene's own
creativity - via art -- will someday be shared with a wider audience.
We send our greetings and prayers to Joe, Tim, Becky, Jeff (and Debra), and
Heather, Aleksa and Michael. Since we're no longer in Houston, we'll be at
the memorial in spirit, celebrating Alleene's life with you and her friends.
With much love,
Jill & Luigi
