Thanks so so much Harry,
I'm doing a service Saturday night at church on Reconciling with God's
Creation. I've created a beautiful liturgy and was going to talk about the
energy I feel from trees and the thin place in my garden where I talk with
the gardens spirits and how the slugs don't eat my vegetables but live
under them, etc, kinda cozy and warm and delightful. Then I got your God's
Earth is Sacred open letter to church and society and realized this is
where I am going with my talk.
Four of us take turns creating a worship service on Saturday night. We
needed a service with inclusiveness in language and membership based on
community and a desire to struggle with our faith. We have a Eucharist but
we pass the bread and wine around the circle saying Christ is here and the
Spirit is with us. The only thing our Priest does is say a few words over
the bread and wine and start it. He says it is a wonderful service for him.
His chance to come and be filled. And if anyone needs liturgies, I have lots.
When I went to check on your letter to churches I found this as well. I've
called the White House and senators and thought others might like to do the
same.
Thanks again. Phyllis
Call in Day! Protect God's Creation
Wednesday, February 16
Remind Congress and the White House that there was no mandate, no majority,
or no "values" message in the past election for the President or the
Congress to rollback and oppose programs that care for God's creation.

Leave a message for President Bush.

An operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request.
This week, the Senate begins debate on President Bush's "Clear Skies"
initiative, sponsored by Senator James Inhofe (OK), which seeks to weaken,
postpone, and rollback requirements that protect air quality across the
nation and ignores carbon dioxide, while an international pact to reduce
global warming emissions, the Kyoto Protocol, goes into effect without U.S.
Support.
Meanwhile, the Administration and Congressional leaders remain unwilling to
take action against global warming at home or abroad, and prepare
initiatives that threaten currently-protected habitats for endangered
species. These measures would turn back protections in laws passed over
decades with overwhelming public support. People of faith around the
country are expressing alarm and dismay over this blatant disrespect for
God's creation.
