[Dialogue] Lamm's supposed talk

Whatever else one might say about Gov. Lamm's alleged talk, (and I suspect 
much can be said) one matter needs correction: His comment about Malaysia. 
Here in Malaysia, diversity is celebrated, there is minimal tension, there 
are no pressures for "autonomy" or "independence."  It is a model of what a 
good society might become. Three distinct cultures are dominant, each with 
its own race, religion, language, dress, and holidays. And everyone 
celebrates all of them. It works. Diversity need not be a threat to a 
nation, but fear and paranoia certainly is.
