Colleagues,

I must add my best wishes and hopes for Brian. When I landed at the Sydney House in September of 1970, Brian and Jeanette were practically newlyweds, and I have fond memories of both of them. My all-time favorite memory of Brian is one mid-week night when he, I, Marilyn Crocker, and (I think) Betsy Morton and others I have forgotten were brainstorming something (likewise forgotten) around that great old refectory table in the Collegium room. We were absolutely drained of energy, all slumped around the table sipping on cups of tea or coffee and trying desperately to carry on with our task. Someone had the inspiration to put the album soundtrack of "Zorba the Greek" on the stereo. When that first wonderful chord of "Zorba's Dance" struck up, Brian suddenly stood up. At the second one, he stood on his chair. At the third he put his hands over his head and snapped his fingers. Then, as the music began to move faster (as we all know), he stood up on the table and began to dance up and down the table (which was no small distance). By the end of the song we were all laughing, clapping, energized and ready to work all night. Wonderful times.

Grace and Peace,
