Hi,
Are these small ponds responsible for shrimp everywhere??
Tomorrow I am doing the second half of a strategic planning with SELF (Self Employment Loan Fund) here in Phoenix. They are built off the Grameen Bank model . . .

The World Food Prize was awarded this evening at the Iowa Capital to Dr. Mododugu V. Gupta, for spreading the science & practice of fisheries even in small ponds throughout Asia, especially South & Southeast Asia.
Now, feeling like I'm in a heavenly flashback, I am viewing the Iowa Public TV program following that broadcast -- about the origins of the Grameen Bank!!! They are saying it is necessary to image the poor not as victims, but potential micro-entrepreneurs. And a newer program in India called SKS, which requires groups of 5 women to take their training & their loans together, then when one may have a difficult week, the other 4 can cover her payment. It's built on trust amongst that little group. And their repayment rates are great!
I just have to marvel that I am seeing this on my TV here in Winterset, IA. Gives me a feeling of hope for the world.
