Re: the Grameen model,
1. what info would any of you have of organizations built on this
model?
2. if persons wanted to include any of such organizations in their
charitable giving, priority suggestions?
3. do any of these organizations accept interns?

One issue behind this last question particularily is that we are
emphasizing contextual theological education here a PSR.

Thanks for contacts and for taking the time to share them with me.

Hi,

Are these small ponds responsible for shrimp everywhere??

Tomorrow I am doing the second half of a strategic planning with SELF
(Self Employment Loan Fund) here in Phoenix. They are built off the
Grameen Bank model . . .

Nancy Trask <n.trask at mchsi.com> wrote:

The World Food Prize was awarded this evening at the Iowa
Capital to Dr. Mododugu V. Gupta, for spreading the science & practice
of fisheries even in small ponds throughout Asia, especially South &
Southeast Asia.

Now, feeling like I'm in a heavenly flashback, I am viewing the
Iowa Public TV program following that broadcast -- about the origins of
the Grameen Bank!!! They are saying it is necessary to image the poor
not as victims, but potential micro-entrepreneurs. And a newer program
in India called SKS, which requires groups of 5 women to take their
training & their loans together, then when one may have a difficult
week, the other 4 can cover her payment. It's built on trust amongst
that little group. And their repayment rates are great!

I just have to marvel that I am seeing this on my TV here in
Winterset, IA. Gives me a feeling of hope for the world.
