So that's the key! Thanks, Tim. I had tried almost everything, the latest
being incantations from the most recent Harry Potter. But the new one there
is pretty deadly, and not at all effective. Previously I had tried
geographic incantations (like "Nukualofa" or "Oombulgurri" or even
"Kawangware," but they were getting the new laptop even more confused. It's
finally required a new motherboard, and hopefully that will fix it.
Certainly I've noticed the sensitivity of high tech, but hadn't found the
karma solution. Talk about eLearning!

><laughing!!!> I don't know about prayer, but karma helps. My wife is
>completely annoyed when I just sit down in front of her computer and
>the problem magically vanishes. I achieve this by closing my eyes,
>taking a deep breath, and visualizing a happy and healthy computer.
>The visualization exercise increases my computer karma. Swearing or
>otherwise thinking unfriendly thoughts about the computer is asking
>for trouble. It's a well kept secret that computers are psychic and
>have feelings that are easily hurt <grin!>
