Jack is correct.  If you check the site that you included with your 
email you will find that the section titled "Today's Columnists" have a 
little icon in front of their articles.  That icon means that, after a 
free trial period, these columnists will no longer be free to read.  The 
icon is for the "TimesSelect" feature which is now a subscription series 
that just started today, 9/19/05.
