Colleagues,

The following message is from David Zahrt. This did not come through from
David so I am sending it on to you to see if it will post to the OE list
from me. Thanks.

Peace,

Harry

Subject: ON DEATH

Since the beginning of the year 2005 have lost

Our son, Jay of 42 years

Our dog Julang of 14 years

My Mother, Luella, of 88 years

I share what I have learned--

It makes us sad to know another of our loved ones has departed. I guess I've
decided that death

* gives us a life completed and a chance to celebrate that life,

* reminds us that we are not in charge
* makes it clear that this is final and cannot be undone
* brings an end to everything we know, along with all unrealized
expectations, and
* is a point at which we have the opportunity to begin again by choosing to
live a new life

It seems that every one of the above points bring pain of one sort or
another. I suspect time will heal if we embrace the situation. I also have
the feeling that it will take an entire lifetime to deal with it.

David
