Thanks, Del, for getting this conversation started. And to everyone who participated. I especially appreciated George Holcombe's post (April 3 5 p.m.).
I joined the folks who enjoyed the laugh, and also agreed with the observations that we need serious discussion about the times and our 3-point, or 8-point, plans, honoring those who disagree with us. How can that be?!
Dick Kroeger, thanks for sending the info on the first national conference of The Network of Spiritual Progressives, organized by Tikkun. I love Michael Lerner's book The Left Hand of God - so much good stuff that it's not a quick read, but I say "Yes!!" to something about every 2 pages or so. (The conference is in Washington, D.C. May 17-20 - see www.spiritualprogressives.org ). I don't think I can go - sigh - but would love to. An amazing group of presenters. Did much enjoy a D.C. conference in January on Politics and Spirituality with Jim Wallis, Richard Rohr, and Anne Lamotte, with a panel moderated by E.J. Dionne. If anyone is interested in some quotes from that conference, e-mail me separately. Something is definitely stirring. About time. Perhaps it's even something that some of us will want to participate in. Count me in.
