Never dreamed such a fantastic discussion would come out of a dumb joke!

Hey! If we had a liberal republican running in the next election who was
worth his (or her) salt, I'D VOTE for that one, and I've never voted
anything but democrat my whole life. I can't stand what the conservatives
have been doing to our country, but I also am pissed off at the wishy
-washiness of the democratic party! What happened to a clear platform and
statement of ethical approaches that (was I dreaming?) once used to be

That's right, Carlos. Well, I like the "Republican" label, because I myself
am a Republican...a Spanish Republican, you know - just like the guys
immortalized by Hemingway in his "For Whom the Bell Tolls". In fact, so
consumed I've been by "For Whom..." I even visited the hotel Dos Mundos en
la Habana Vieja, not once, but twice.

But of course, we would be getting into another discussion with my brand of
republicanism. As we say in Spanish, Es harina de otra costal. Suffice it
to say that not all Republicans are bad...I know.
