 From one who lives in the land of durians, they're awesome.

If you place a durian in the trunk of your car, the car's resale value 
drops 43 percent. You can smell durians 3 blocks away, only you think that 
a garbage truck has overturned. They smell kind of like a combination of 
dirty diapers, old running shoes, and rotten foor. On the other hand, they 
taste quite good if you can stand getting that close to them. Hotels here 
normally have signs in the lobby banning durians. They're that kind of fruit.
