A Message From Caroline Myss

This is a sample of the JULY SALON:

ESSENTIAL WISDOM AND GLOBAL HEALING

I have an enchanting fifteen-year-old niece who is spending much of the
summer with me. The other night she overheard a news broadcast on Armageddon. The
newscaster was posing the question, "Is this war in the Middle East the
beginning of the end?" And following that rather choice question, she focused on that
particular group of fundamentalists who are taking delight in this war in the
Middle East because they are convinced that indeed this war signals that the
predicted end of time battle has begun. The program went on to show these half
wits in hysterical prayer sessions, cheering and weeping and happier than
kids with ice cream because the bombs are finally dropping all of the Middle
East. This, they are convinced, is the will of God and the promise that Jesus is
coming back. Coming back? I can tell you for a fact that if Jesus ever did come
back, which is not something I anticipate in the least, he would hardly
recognize his teachings of love and brotherhood in action. One is forced to ask,
"Who are these people?" Who are these brainwashed human beings who are taking
delight in the deaths and sufferings of so many people, believing that the
traumas of bleeding children hit by bombs is a revelation from their God?

Back to my niece….Much as I tried to explain the danger of fundamentalism to
her and this theology of Armageddon, which happens to be a recurring
archetypal theme in history, incidentally, (and a point worth discussing for that
reason), this television program terrified her. Had I known it would have that
effect, of course, I would have turned the program off – obviously. I've had
several chats with her since that program, all with the intention of undoing the
psychic damage of that broadcast, but the on-going reality of that war is my
competition here and I am losing my battle with the Armageddon broadcast. She's
scared – period. That program, and more to the point, those Armageddon
believers, have succeeded in planting the thought form in my niece's mind that there
isn't much time left. Funny as these things go, we rarely have the television
on around here in the evenings because we are so busy chatting or painting or
we are out walking the neighborhood. If we are in front of the television, it's
because we popped in a movie, not because we are watching something on
television, so it was one of those odd things that the two of us happened to catch
this program at all. And yet, even though it has deeply stressed my niece, I am
not disappointed that I saw this program, in light of the events unfolding on
our planet because in some sense, it validates the psychic heavy blanket that
I so often sense around so many people.

WAR AND THE HEALTH OF THE COLLECTIVE – WHICH IS US

First of all, when a planet is at war, the entire vibration of the planet
shifts to one of trauma. The physical war does not have to be fought on local
territory in order for the people of that area to become affected or "infected"
by the mental and emotional strain that is created as a result of the fear and
violence of war. A person does not have to believe in the Armageddon myth to
be affected by the toxic psychic field that it generates. All it takes is the
combination of a passionate group of believers in the Armageddon myth – and
Evangelicals certainly qualify for that, if nothing else – and anything that
looks like proof that the myth is true. In this case, the war in the Middle East
has all the right markings and prophetic omens. Such a combination infects the
collective psychic like a poisonous homeopathic treatment, penetrating into
the subtle energy bodies of every single human being. No matter who you are, you
are being influenced by the vibration of this war and many prophecies that
are emerging around it and because of it.

In a way, this reminds me of all the hysterics that preceded Y2K. Remember
that? I remember this one guy – who I haven't heard from since, thank God – who
sat in his home in Washington State sending out email after email after email
warning people about all the destruction that was going to happen by three
minutes after midnight, January 1, 2000. I mean, according to this guy,
absolutely no one was going to survive this turning of the millennium, except him, of
course, and the rest of his happy little Washington State community because
they were savvy enough to listen to him, a high-tech oracle who was able to
predict the downfall of all technological systems and airports and computers and
what have you. I mean he had people going nuts with his material. I met him
once and listened to him try to convince me of the insanity that was just on the
horizon. All the while I was looking right into his eyes…speaking of
insane….as he described the stupidity of people who "just won't listen" to the obvious
signs that the end was near. It took me about thirty seconds to realize that
this guy wanted the end to be near because he was building his identity on his
predictions. He wanted death and destruction and global systems breakdowns
and nightmares because that would prove he was right and every one else was
wrong. This was a dangerous, dangerous man….all the more so because he thought of
himself as so good.

So, if you were with me right now, I'd ask you:

Anything different? Do you feel psychically different?

Have your dream patterns changed?

Any change in anxiety, exhaustion, sleep patterns?

Any increase in depression? I say increase because everyone has a depression
rating.

Any subtle shifts in your sense of optimism?

Have you had an increase in aches and pains?

Have you experienced unusual weight gain in this past year?

Are you changing any short or long terms plans? – ie, "Let's just live for
today," which, for you, would ordinarily be just too risky a way to live.

Any increase in fear patterns?

Any increase in rage or anger, either personal or ethnic?

Any sensations that you can "feel" the trauma in the air and feel the change
in the attitudes and energy fields of people?

Do people strike you as being just a bit more depressed or psychically
intense or heavy?

A SERIOUS SUGGESTION

Go back and review those questions and consciously pay attention to those
areas. And pay attention to your own subtle changes. Many of your subtle changes
can be attributed to the stress in the collective field of humanity and the
planet.

In the August Salon, I will do an interpretation of how these personal
stresses are connected to the collective, so do pay attention to your personal
activity.

Love,

Caroline
