This article was in the Austin American newspaper, Aug. 25. The
president of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, Jake B.
Schrum, was a personal friend and classmate of Vance Engleman, and
Vance bequeathed his Ghandi collection to Southwestern U. Wanda will
be working on a Peace with Justice seminar during the dedication of the
collection.

Most of us remember Vance's broom collection, but this is a very
significant collection.

SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY

Bequest includes Gandhi works

Southwestern has received a trove of materials about peace and
nonviolence collected by Vance Engleman, a management consultant and
self-taught Gandhi scholar from the Pittsburgh area who died last year.

The gift includes the 100-volume collected works of Mohandas Gandhi,
audiovisual works about Gandhi and works about the Rev. Martin Luther
King Jr. and Mother Teresa. The materials also include busts of Gandhi,
King and Mother Teresa, as well as other artwork.

A peace conference Oct. 11 and 12 at Southwestern will feature Arun
Gandhi as the keynote speaker.

"With Arun Gandhi sharing lessons from his grandfather, it will be
wonderful to celebrate the Engleman World Peace and Nonviolence
Collection along with the conference," university chaplain Beverly
Jones said.
