To all who sent their greetings, a deeply-felt thank you. The pictures were fine and the testimonies to an abundantly-lived year and reports of service were wonderful.
My activities have been much more modest, so I did not plan to share my "news" letter widely. But for the first time in several years I was also able to write a poem - something that had been a tradition in our family. So I will send it along, with my admiration and wishes for the very best to all of you.

From the Silence
Who knows what may come from a quiet day
Perhaps deep peacefulness
Sometimes fresh new ways of seeing
Or on rare days
A poem or a song
Because I've hushed the thoughts demanding I report to busyness
A thorny question's answer may appear
When suddenly I see
The pieces that I need
Were always there
Who knows what may yet come
From that Silent Night
The special child was born
Who turned so much upside down
He fills us still with challenges and wonder
A wise one I admire declares this Holy Child
Not born to die, but born to live
So you and I might have the chance to see LIFE
Running on all cylinders
Extravagantly, lovingly poured out with joy
This year if I cannot find the time
For every now and then a quiet day
Or to consider star fallout from that Silent Night
Then as I make the choices that create my life
I must find the way to change
