Re: [Dialogue] FW: Visit to BayadDear Ruth,
We were at Bananeiras for the tenth anniversary of the consult. Having been at the consult, we had a few questions in mind, like?
What happened to the experimental vegetable farm?
Ans. What vegetable farm? We don't need it! Everyone has their own vegetable garden around their house.
What about plans to enlarge the school?
Ans. We did some of that, but we got help to put in a road to the nearest town and all our children are bussed there for middle school and high school. Some have even gone on to college!
What about all the health problems?
Ans. We have a resident nurse now, but we don't have any serious health problems.
    What about employment?
Ans. With the buses, people can either work in ttown or work here and transport their products. We have a good standard of living.
What do you remember about the consult?
Ans. Some foreign people came once, but I don't remember much about them. We've been very busy!
Sounded to us like the Consult had been a success!
        Nan Grow

Great story from Wayne. Wondrous follow up. Made me think about all those town meetings we did. Especially the 100 in one day in Oklahoma. Has anyone ever followed up on any of those events? Just curious. David Reese

David, I was wondering the same thing. I love the stories about Bayad, but wonder about the HDPs I was involved in--those in Lorne, Canada; Bananieras, Brazil; <sp?>, Sol de Septiembre, Chile; Conacaste, Guatemala; and with the Papagos, now referred to as Tohono O'odham, in Arizona.

We did so much work and it was so inspiring; how much is making a lasting contribution 30 plus years later.
