>Dear Ruth,
> We were at Bananeiras for the tenth anniversary of the consult.
>Having been at the consult, we had a few questions in mind, like?
> What happened to the experimental vegetable farm?
>Ans. What vegetable farm? We don't need it! Everyone has their own
>vegetable garden around their house.
> What about plans to enlarge the school?
>Ans. We did some of that, but we got help to put in a road to the
>nearest town and all our children are bussed there for middle school
>and high school. Some have even gone on to college!
> What about all the health problems?
>Ans. We have a resident nurse now, but we don't have any serious
>health problems.
> What about employment?
>Ans. With the buses, people can either work in ttown or work here
>and transport their products. We have a good standard of living.
> What do you remember about the consult?
>Ans. Some foreign people came once, but I don't remember much about
>them. We've been very busy!
> Sounded to us like the Consult had been a success!
> Nan Grow
>
Nan, thanks for the update! I'm glad you were able to return and find
out what happened.
Yea Team! That's great; I'm grateful that the village entered the 20th century.

I remember talking to an elderly woman of the village who had just a
couple years prior learned what caused babies. She learned it from a
granddaughter. She had given birth to 17 children.

I also remember the huge frogs and how one night I didn't want to use
the outhouse because there was a frog--or toad?--that was about a
foot across.

I skies were so clear, and I recall the "shooting stars". Were we
there during the Perseid Meteor Showers in August? I just remember
going straight to Bananeiras after we finished the consult in Sol de
Septeimbre, Chile.

Bananeiras was quite an adventure, as was our time in Rio de Janeiro.
