As he is currently not on Dialogue, Sherwood Shankland told me I could share
his reflection.

Thanks, Catherine, for sending us the news on Saint George.I'll forward this
to Eunice in Rome. Please let me know when the memorial service may be.
To the Yost Family and colleagues of George and Ruthe Yost, around the
world.
The image that flashed through my mind was Ruthe standing at the edge of the
'Neverland' garden with one hand on her hip, tapping her foot as George
strolls up the walk. With a twinkle in her eye, she says:
"Well, George, I've been waiting.what kept you?!"
George, smiles broadly and says,
"Well dear, I had a few more witnesses to give and a few more hearts to
touch before I called it quits.and by the way, my love, may I have this
dance?"
Surely God meant for these two to be a witness to all of us of just what a
couple in mission can be. So totally poured out for others and able in spite
of a thousand challenges to remain steadfast in service, gracious and
affirming of their colleagues, and just plain good friends. I feel so so
blessed that our paths crossed along the way. I remember a few moments in my
hospital room in Denver in 2000 - they came to visit and prayed for healing
of my broken ribs. I remember a couple of years we spent together getting
the Kelapa Dua village project going in Indonesia. I remember a few weeks we
worked together in Sungui Lui, Malaysia working with the farmers and the
sewing industry. I remember laughter. I remember singing. And most of all I
remember words of support.
So George and Ruthe.sing with us as the tears flow, and we dare to celebrate
your lives and ours and the road ahead.
"Dance then wherever you may be,
I am the Lord of the Dance said he;
And I'll lead you all where ever you may be;
And I'll lead you all in the Dance said
he.
Grace and Peace, Sherwood
