While I'm not familiar with Wave Analysis, Sunny's description sounds much like Force Field Analysis.  Procedures for Force Field Analysis are easy to find using a Google Search.

The one I’m referring to is “The Wave”. I recall seeing somewhere (IAF conference perhaps) a write up by Mirja Hanson so will await a reply.
