There follows below a report from our NSP Generosity Sunday event. in
Minneapolis. It reminded me of the Church lecture
Today, when our event was beginning, Stanley and Lisa contacted Chief
Lookinghorse and asked him if he would lend us words for our day. He responded
with a beautiful statement that was read by his nephew Joseph Lookinghorse. I
am including this statement as it was given to me by Lisa and Stanley. We
were honored today by the presence of great dignitaries, politicians and
activists. We were also honored by a great spiritual leader. I hope this is only
the beginning of a very special relationship with this spiritual leader in
our midst who has much to say and much to teach us. We have made an inroad very
deserving of respect and one which I hope is strengthened in the days to
come.
Chief Arvol Lookinghorse:
We see ourselves as part of the universe,
as part of all that is seen and all that is unseen.
We know that we are no better -and no worse-
than the grasses, the trees, the birds,
the insects, the animals, the stars.
And yet we understand that human beings are different.
Each being in creation has a specific task to perform in this life.
Our Original Instructions tell us what our role is,
where our place is and what our specific task is as a human being.
Do you know your task?
Unless you know your task and perform it in this life,
you stray from the Good Red Road of Life that the Great Creator
Wakan Tanka has given each of us to walk.
Remember to pray with "all nations, all faiths, one prayer" on June 21st
for healing Grandmother earth!
Quote by Chief Arvol Lookinghorse 19th Keeper of the Buffalo Calf Pipe
read by Joseph Lookinghorse, nephew of Chief Arvol Lookinghorse
