Colleagues -

Just sharing some news re:  Peru, especially Azpitia.  Gloria Santos is 
current project director of ICA-Peru, she's based in Lima, however - she 
travels frequently to Azpitia and other projects sites where ICA is 
currently working on projects related to preventive health and 
micro-enterprises.  The good news is that no one in Azpitia got hurt.  
However, given the fragility of the buildings in that part of Peru, there's 
sure to be an impact not only on buildings but on the irrigation canals on 
which Azpitia and the Mala Valley depend heavily for its water.  Factor in 
the cracks in the highways and roadways leading to Azpitia and other places, 
plus interrupted electric service and we can foresee a grim scenario in the 
coming months, or even years.

Sorry, our exchanges are en da spanis, it's the language our Peruvian 
colleagues are comfortable communicating in.  More good news - Mr. Felix 
Aburto and his wife, Gudelia - survived with no injuries.  Felix is one of 
the community leaders, being a former mayor.  Gudelia was one of the women 
leaders from way back when (circa 1979).  Their son, Pedro - is married to 
Gloria and both of them are resident staff of ICA-Peru.  Daughter Jesusa, 
works with the ICA staff full-time.
