George,
Slimming down is the only way to do it, unless there is a miracle in
fusion or coal technology. The media owners want us to think that we
have to wait for the miracle. Remember the Churchill quote - you can
count on the US to do the right thing - after everything else has
failed. Maybe in this case after the last polar bear has drowned.
Apathy and talking to each other certainly won't work. Rereading
"Brave New World Revisited" helps understanding.
