Thanks, Jim. What about a 3-point plan.

1. GRASSROOTS DEMOCRACY:

10,000 USA Town Meetings around 5-point plan for USA over next 5 years,
sponsored by Gates Foundation, with $2m prize for best big city TM product,
$1m prize for best mid-sized city TM product, and $500k for best small-town
TM product. Of course criteria for participation would factor in. Fdn would
pay 200 folk to pull it off and train TM leaders, print TM workbooks. They
could hire professionals to market it and compile digitized results to be
sent to the final plenary in D.C. with Congress well represented.)

2. ECUMENICAL DEMONSTRATION:

National Ecumenical Care-of-the-Earth Campaign (NECTEC) for best
inter-congregational projects, sponsored by Interfaith Council of USA
(whatever its name), National Councils of the following: Jewish, Muslim,
Native American, Christian (National Council of Churches, and the USA
Evangelical Council, whatever its name), etc. One winning "ecumenical parish
project" per State would be video'd for 6-8 regional video presentations on
PBS. (Churches over 5000 membership would have to factor in somehow.)

3. URBAN SPOTLIGHTS:

Sharing-Approaches-That-Work Urban Conference (SATWUC) for most creative
ways to catalyze urban community, to be sponsored by 10 rich
persons/corporations that love the city, e.g., Ted Turner/Turner
Broadcasting Co. Winning projects/models video'd for winning bidder among
the broadcasting corporations, and millions of dollars in prizes, for best
this, that, and the other.

And in case have to have five:

4. New USA President/Vice-president Style who will galvanize our fractured
nation and whose style of leadership will demonstrate the USA will serve the
globe authentically. Candidates should have the leadership style, the deep
appreciation of diversity, and the global experience of the likes of a Colin
Powell and a Bill Richardson.

5. National My-3-Wishes-for-American Writing Contest for 6th Graders. Gates
Fdn. sponsorship. All 6th graders must submit a two-essay. Five
million-dollar school prizes and 100 individual college scholarships, two
per State.

6. A national digital something or other that will unite the country.

hmmm. . . . wasn't there an idea of "what is your five point plan for . . ."
that came out of old news conversations or the nation and world course or .
. . That might be interesting to chat about.

What would be your 5 point plan for the US over the next 5 or so years? Not
so much interested in coming to some common answer as I would love to hear a
divergence of views.

Several years ago, I had the great good fortune to not only hear Senator
Clinton speak, but to meet with her afterwards. At that time I was very
impressed with her. I am not impressed with her current rhetoric. She
seems to out hawk the hawks. And, realistic or not, I want to hear something
positive for the future and not continued Bush bashing.
