Hamje is the treasurer on the ICAI board elected during the last General
Assembly meeting in Toronto - He developed this system as a way to raise
money while doing something he was already doing and is passionate about.
As far as I know he did not ask ICAI for permission to associate their
name but actually did not necessarily have to since as far as ICAI is
concerned they are simply receiving donations of money from individuals
and the individuals are receiving a receipt specifically for those
donations. However the legal implications and Ken's language implying
that the organizations are connected is troubling.
I think primarily his intention was to share the success he feels and
expects. I have no experience with RUL one way or the other and when he
invited me/us to invest I declined.
However I was not misrepresented in the letter so I understand David's
anger.
I also am afraid ICAI needs to check on its liability if any from these
letters being sent out.
With respect, Larry
