Dear all,
I too am so happy to have access to the listserve and hear all of your reflections and experiences. It is now time for me to send reflections as day by day I am touched by your deep sharings of experiences.
I joined the order in 1981 in the L.A. house with the Hamje's. I was assigned to Chile in 1982 with the Newkirks and Raul and Angelica. In 1984 I was assigned to Peru with the Hamje's. Finally in 1985 was assigned assigned to Manila Philippines with the new team of Philbrooks, Epps, and the the others formerly there. I has the great fortune of attending the Global Academy in 81, a few councils in Chicago and the IERD and meeting in Jaipur. All of these events had a profound impact on my life and have prepared me for this wonderful spiritual journey I have been on for the past twenty years with the Brahma Kumaris. I left the order in 1987 to deepen my spiritual life with the Brahma Kumaris and am now feeling how fortunate this life has been. Of course, I am most grateful to all those in the order who taught me so much to prepare for this special journey. I agree with some of you that one never really leaves the order but are the order wherever your life takes you.
Today my life is great and it keeps getting better day by day. Every day I study very elevated spiritual knowledge with the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University website www.bkwsu.org for your reference. I started the meditation more than twenty years in Manila and I feel that my life has totally transformed and now I am more peaceful, happier and a lot less confused. I stayed almost twelve years here in the Philippines from 85-97 and then was invited to care for our center in Hong Kong. That was also a very enriching experience filled with happiness and lots of friendships. I was mainly involved in an interfaith group doing dialogues and other activities. In 2004, God sent me to Cambodia where I also looked after the center and introduced positive thinking and meditation to mostly your Cambodians there. I must say being in Cambodia really gave me so many realizations about my life. The struggle people go through and happiness in very simple living. Humaness
at its best. Just this past year, I have returned to the Philippines and am now based in Baguio. This is a beautiful little city, cool climate, mountains, trees and a small population of Indigenous people. Around 10,000 Koreans have now come to live here too which gives me plenty of opportunities for teaching English too. I continue to teach positive thinking, stress free living, meditation etc.
So what' most important to me is service. Service to myself to become the best I can become and service to the world. I am surrounded by a loving warm spiritual family here in Baguio and in the world. Something I loved about being in the Order filled with joys and challenges of living and working together. Wherever I travel in the world I have a family and a home. Not only in Brahma Kumaris, but also with our colleagues from the order. I have visited with the Epps in K.L., Jack and Judy, Hiraman, Mangla, Shankar and Mary in Bombay and Poona. Ronnie Seagren and Bill Staples in Toronto, The Wests and Philbrooks in Taipei, Safini and Peggy Convey in L.A., The team in Phoenix and Judy Hamje while in Chicago last summer.
I am content and have attained everything I wanted in life. I am God's constant companion. What more can I say.
Love and Peace,
Devi (formerly Darlene Golembo)
