Dear Colleagues,
You might want to check out this broadcast. You could even invite some friends over to watch and discuss. Nationally, it is a way to get important but usually neglected issues into the presidential election discussion.

----------------
Monday night June 5 at 7-8 p.m. eastern time CNN will broadcast a televised forum with three Democratic presidential candidates, as they are questioned about their policies for dealing with issues of faith, moral values, and poverty issues both in this country and globally.

Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards will be introduced by Jim Wallis (author, preacher, activist) on Monday, June 4th during Pentecost 2007, a national conference sponsored by Sojourners and Call to Renewal in Washington, DC. This is not a debate. Each candidate will be questioned individually for twenty minutes by religious and lay leaders.

Republican candidates are being invited for a broadcast later in the year with the same topic.

------------------------------

More than 300 small groups will meet Monday night across the country to view and discuss the program. Many will be in homes or churches. In our Binghamton, NY area we have arranged to meet in the public broadcasting studio; 36 have called for reservations. In early February, Sojourners organized such "view and discuss" groups around President Bush's State of the Union address. The discussions were called "State of Our Values" and we were encouraged to contact local media with our thoughts. It was worthwhile. Sojourners supports such groups with discussion questions (sometimes needing ToP improvement), conference calls, media contact suggestions.
