In this complexity, let's not lose a sense of appreciation that we have real candidates for the nomination who are female, black, and hispanic. This is historic, I think. -- not to mention Mormon, divorced, pays too much for haircuts, etc. are also in the field. Maybe even another TV actor and . . . an academy award winner. Ah, the blessings of diversity.

It worked before with MoveOn.Org, so why would we NOT support someone who might actually be able to disentangle us from some of the messes we're in? I think we're defeatest if we think we can just sit back and watch Hillary get the nomination. I, for one, think she's the wrong woman for this fight. We will spend four years coping with those who hate her with a passion we cannot comprehend.

"The war in Iraq is not the disease. Iraq is a symptom. The disease is arrogance."
This on the outside of an envelope from the Bill Richardson presidential campaign impressed me. I was more impressed when I saw his 7-point plan for Iraq. Doesn't come across as angry, just sensible.
Last night on C-Span there was a discussion of the presidential candidates at Leon Panetta's policy institute in Monterey, CA. James Carville, who headed Bill Clinton's presidential campaigns and is close to the Clintons, is a really hard-nosed guy - no fuzzy idealism. He's convinced that Hillary will win the nomination because of all the money and organization the Clintons have developed. Money is it. He thinks Obama doesn't have the experience. So it was interesting when Carville made this one statement: "The most qualified presidential candidate by far is Bill Richardson. Governor, United Nations ambassador, energy secretary under Clinton (one of the most important issues for our country), great international negotiator. But he has no chance - not enough money."
If you want to check him out, the web site is www.richardsonforpresident.com Clicking on issues will get you his positions, including the plan for Iraq. He's getting a few bucks from me.
