Subject: How Can I Keep from Singing!!!

June 5, 2007

Celebrate!!! My tumor has continued to shrink since my MRI #4. Mammogram
and ultrasound yesterday indicate the tumor is now about .5 cm. What a
drastic shrinkage from its original 3 cm.!!!

Surgery (lumpectomy) is scheduled for June 15 at UNC Cancer Center in
Chapel Hill. It will be done under local anesthesia and I will be sent
home. However, we are planning to stay overnight at Chapel Hill just in case
we need some attention. I really feel like singing!!! and shouting!! After
a little healing time, I will begin radiation. To further prevent
recurrence, I will remain on the medication for the next 5 years, which we
know is working very well with my body.

Celebrate with us!!!! Indeed this appears to have turned out to be a minor
bump in the road as some of you hoped. Thank you, thank you for all your
care and support during this disconcerting time.

Lots of other things to turn to now:
John is the speaker at Kaitlyn's graduation from 5th grade this coming
Friday and then we head to Galax for John's 50th high school reunion. There
is also the Galax String and Leaf Festival going on where John will be one
of the featured authors at some of the events of the weekend. Veronica and
Jeremiah's 2nd baby will arrive around July 12. Baby business is booming
around here! Veronica's parents will be here from Spain for about 3 weeks
to help with little Clara (16 months) while I recuperate and get treatment.
Jono and Kelley's adoption process is going a little slower than originally
projected, but we know in time there will be a wonderful caring home for
some needy child. The adopted child will be their 3rd child. My Dad (who
will be 93 in July) continues to do very well and is enjoying all these new
great grandchildren to brag on. He and I made a return trip to Tennessee in
May. A great time of being together.

Thank you again for encouragement you have been to us during this part of
this new adventure.

Lynda and John
