As I understand it EI is financially solvent. ICA is not or at least it
wasn't when the board fired some of our fine colleagues. This was due to
listening to a consultant who background was with child welfare
organizations and who knew nothing about the history and mission of both ICA
and EI. She said, were not for the real holdings, of both she would close
both of them.
Another piece of info is that ICA did have an sizable debt to EI. ICA also
pays EI $42,000 in rent a year. If the same board serves both boards they
could have zeroed out the rent. Maybe one of our colleagues could still be
working.
It has bothered me for all these months that the board acted upon the advice
of a consultant to solve the financial crisis by firing the entire program
staff but keep the bookkeeper, receptionist and janitors. Who did they
imagine would run the programs that generated the revenue to pay the bills
plus the salaries and benefits for the bookkeeper, receptionist and
janitors.? I sure their consultant did not have a clue.
Another interesting item is that the Bylaws call for the ICA board to have
a"Global Advisory Council". If they do, who serves on it.
