[Dialogue] NEWS FROM THE HEARTLAND

Don't know how many of you watch NOW and BILL MOYERS' JOURNAL on PBS.  
That's almost the only TV I watch. It comes on Friday evening around  
here. Last Friday both David B. and Bill M. did a good deal of  
coverage on the affect of the lobby industry on the political  
decision making.

Some of you may know that I desire to write some parables, or get  
them written, put them to song, and begin to send the message, via  
song, that its time to make the shift from Empire to Earth Community.  
In the best-of-all-possible-worlds I would convene a vocal ensemble  
of some kind. The one I'm most familiar with is Barbershop Quartet.  
It could be a vocal ensemble of any kind. Once we get the group  
identified, the lyrics and the music worked up, we can work in  
dispersion and convene on occasion, and immediately prior to an  
event, to polish our presentation. The group might be named the  
Parabolics; or the Parody Partners!

Meanwhile I've been preparing to have the 'ammunition' needed to  
begin creating songs and set a new story loose. I did a Song Writing  
workshop in Ames Fri nite, Apr 4, for an Iowa Citizens for Community  
Improvement Leadership Workshop <www.iowacci.org/>. Sometime last  
year CCI helped Lorimor, IA, a community in which we worked in the  
early 80's, deny the construction of a Confinement Animal Feeding  
Operation (CAFO) nearby the town of Lorimor.

There were about 20 people in attendance for a CCI Leadership Weekend  
Workshop. After some contextual work on the issues we finally broke  
into three groups. One of the groups came up with this song.
