Well, Sherwood Shankland told me last night (when I was digging around on
the internet after Steve's first assertion that it was Kierkegaard) that it
was in Tillich's paper. So I concluded that he must have been quoting Kant.
I associate it with Bultmann simply because it feels like part of the old
"between the arrows" dilemma - aka G-O-D, G-O-B, sh** sandwich and a new one
I made up when the Profound Journey Dialogue came to Denver: My Happiness
Challenge. I working on humor/comedy these days and much of what is deemed
funny out there in the world falls into the "misfortune of even one's
closest friends" category.
Carlos, yea for accuracy! (Especially since I can't find my RS-I papers at
the moment).

Sunny,
I think it was Soren Kirkegaard: "There is something in the misfortune of
even our closest friends that does not displease us". Perfect description
of schadenfreude.

Well said, Maureen! That last paragraph was a "slam dunk" even though harsh.
And I wonder if "schadenfreude" was the word Bultmann used originally.
Sitting in Denver seeing many back off their personal passion in favor of
getting Obama elected first. There were two things about Hillary that upset
me from the beginning - how many times she uses the word "fight" and how her
ascendancy to the presidency would divide the country even further than
Bush's has (if you think Dem's hate Bush.). We need someone with the guts to
stand up for a new vision and to put ugly old politics aside. I'm hoping for
Obama vs. having to live with sour grapes.
