About Krauthammer: I’ve been aware of him for several years. He is a rabid supporter of the Greater Israel” idea, that Jews have a God given right to dispossess all the Palestinians. He’s a war monger, has urged Israel to devastate the Palestinians in an all out war. I consider him a racist and an evil ultra conservative. What he is saying now is typical, snide, but maybe a bit tame compared to some of what he’s written. Unfortunately, I believe nearly all the major candidates avoid the Palestinian question, and the likelihood of war with Iran, because AIPAC and it’s well financed donors contribute substantially only to candidates who are careful what they say. A while back, there was an appropriation bill in the House that would have denied Congressional funding to any war that hadn’t been declared by Congress. Pelosi got booed by AIPAC people for saying something sympathetic about Palestinians, so she promptly scurried back to Congress and the offending stipulation was removed from the draft bill.

Good one Cynthia.
The Republican convention will be in St. Paul. The head of the Republican party in Minnesota recently came out for Huckabee. Minnesota at one time was a big Democratic state. Hopefully it will turn a corner this election. Not a surprise to see the Krauthammer piece in the Star Tribune.
Another piece from Krauthammer from The National Review last October ends with:
"So no more gnashing of teeth. Republicans have 4 1/2 good presidential candidates. All five would make fine Cabinet members: Romney at Treasury, Thompson at Justice, McCain at Defense, Giuliani at Homeland Security, Huckabee at Interior. All the team needs now is to pick a captain who can beat Hillary." How's that for giving one the creeps. Actually the whole article is creepy. I don't think he's kidding. Check it out at The National Review site, October 26, 2007.
I like Obama and occasionally lean toward him and yet continue to go with Hillary.

All of these pundits (TV and written) are in the entertainment business. They may mountains out of molehills. I am totally disgusted with all of them. Also no one can have a "pure" vote in Congress. Obama is incredibly moving and is truly forming a movement. Nonetheless I'm voting for Hiliary.

Dear Charles Krauthammer,
Scrutiny is fine, but please - when does "a smile" become "a smirk"? And "You're not that bad, Hillary" is "an unkind cut, deeply ungracious, almost cruel"? Good grief! Personally I'm very grateful for Edwards, H. Clinton, and Obama, all. I know it's an honor to be president, and a chance to do much good, but what you have to go through to get there is terrific. And when both Republican and Democratic nominees are chosen, it will get worse, because all the gotchas of the pundits will focus on just one person from each party. Scrutiny of leadership style, experience, plans, vision, integrity, finances, wisdom is great. But I hope nobody will vote, or not vote, for president based on the nuances of one two-second facial expression. Or whether Hillary's momentary tears seemed genuine, or calibration of the degree of John Edwards' anger. I suppose the pundits are bored with policies - but policies, and yes, personal persuasiveness, are what will make a difference in American lives and the world.
