  Much Appreciated --

Obama's talk is very much in line with a way that I've found myself thinking recently about the contest between our three Democratic front runners here in the U.S.

Hilary, I think, brings to the table a deep recognition of the systems and forces that run our nation and world and a passionate commitment to work with and within them in order to change them--what we've called the Establishment stance.

Edwards brings a deep recognition and almost prophetic denunciation of the injustices perpetrated by these same systems and structures and a passionate commitment to stand up against them in order to change them--what we've called the Disestablishment stance.

Obama, as I think this speech illustrates, sees the importance of both of these, along with the necessity for something more. His passion appears to be in both affirming and holding the tension between them and challenging us to recognize and move to a common ground where we can work together to effect the necessary changes--what we've called the Transestablishment stance.

All three, I believe, have a deep commitment to the far reaching changes we know we have to make. I find it rather marvelous that we have these three dynamics being played out for us so clearly in this race.

  Gordon
