Dick,

This is so uplifting! "A new wind is blowing...", and I'm hardly surprised. Our youngest (a daughter who still lives with us), but not really young at age 24 - generally shies away from serious subject matters. However...when it comes to the US presidential elections, it's a totally different story: she perks up at the mere mention of "Barack Obama". There are things these kids know and see, which many established and supposedly more "sophisticated" folks in the Establishment don't.

Hope is still a good thing.

"Lord, make me an instrument of your Peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow Love.
Where there is injury, Pardon,
Where there is doubt, Faith,
Where there is despair, HOPE
Where there is darkness, Light,
And where there is sadness, Joy.
O Divine Master, grant I may
 not so much seek to be consoled,
 as to Console;
To be understood, as to Understand;
To be loved, as to Love;
For it is in giving that we receive -
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life."

St. Francis of Assisi

Four 3rd and 4th graders were in the seats just behind me discussing the US presidential election this morning on the way to school. After kicking things around, they concluded unanimously:

John McCain is old
Hillary Clinton Lies
Barrack Obama says our dreams can come true.

Again and again in historySome special people in the crowd wake up.They have no ground in the crowd,They move according to much broader law.They carry strange customs with themand demand room for bold and audacious actions.The future speaks ruthlessly through them. -Rainer Maria Rilke
