Yes!!

Though our joy must be tempered by the observation that, for many, this was
more a vote shaped by the sad state of our economy and Against the
Bush/Cheney administration than it was a vote For Obama, this is a great
victory.

I know it's no revelation to folks on this distribution list to say that
racism is still "alive and well" in our world.
Kenyan's have been saying that a Luo (Barack's dad's tribe) would be elected
President of the USA easier than one could be elected to top leadership in
Kenya.

To echo what others have said, there is still much work to be done - on so
many fronts.

Perhaps our grandchildren's generation will mark this election as a major
step forward, and one more confirmation that indeed, all is possible.

I remember many years ago, sitting in the cubicle with JWM. I cannot
remember who was all around the table, I remember Betty Pesek was there, I
think George Walters was there, maybe Hahn. We were reflecting on
observations Joe made when we were on the West side, saying the cities would
produce Black leaders, and that it would move to Washington. I don't
remember who said it, maybe it was Walters, that one day there would be a
Black president, and JWM smiled and nodded. As I sit and watch the TV, I
remember Harrison and Joyce and Larry and Robert, and so many others.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be in a collegium in the morning with all of
them. Can you imagine!
