I did figure out how to post the CD songs in MP3 format. I'd be happy to do
it again.

About a month ago, there was a discussion about ICA songs. Dressler
long-playing records were put on the internet, as were titles and words of songs -
so many of these that perhaps it may be a complete list - at least so far.
And there were exciting suggestions for colleagues to gather and sing, on front
porches, for example.

Saturday Sept. 20 colleagues will be gathering in Troy, NY for a
pre-international-conference afternoon workshop. That morning a few of us will spend a
couple of hours singing (with piano), and recording some of the songs, as
another contribution to sharing our song heritage. The recording equipment is
in a church, and the voices are not professional. We will have valiant forces
on hand, but will not spend the whole two hours polishing 2 songs. Instead,
we will have fun. CD's will be available at cost; perhaps their most
appropriate use would be for those who really love the songs, to sing along with.
This way people can sing louder to cover any possible shortcomings in the
recordings.

So far we have suggestions for the following list of songs. I don't honestly
know how many songs we will have time for. We'll set up a priority list,
and then add others as we can.

SUGGESTIONS SO FAR

The Vision

New Community Bound (tune, Won't You Play a Simple Melody)

Delta Pace
Sudtonggan
Gibson Town
Cabaret Song "Shocking! My life's anew, vict'ry! Shocking! It's certitude,
trembling!"
Rainbow Trail
Once to Every One and Nation
Those Who Wait on the Lord
Lift Every Voice and Sing
For All the Saints
Journey On

Not really suggestions yet, but other possibilities:

Harambee (Harambee, harambee, tuimbe pamoja)

At the Center Tranquil (tune, Shenandoah)
The Rose
All Life Is Open (tune, Guantanamerra)
Fifth City Love Song (tune, And I Love You So)
Come and Go With Me to that Land

If you think you might be interested in such a CD, two questions:
1) Are there another few songs that you would yearn to sing along with?
2) Are there 2 or 3 on the list of suggestions (or possibilities) that
you'd just as soon cut to make room for others?

Please let me know by Tuesday Sept. 16. You can reply to me individually -
or if you think your ideas need wider feedback, the listserv. Thanks, and
good singing - whatever songs sustain you these days.

Janice
