For me, it is sobering to realize that the election of Obama will not
make the difference we hope for. I don't want to expand on this, but
you will see that we are existing in a profoundly flawed system and
until the contradiction is faced and dealt with, nothing will change
and the consequences will be severe.
We live in a field of infinite energy and infinite possibilities. The
openness to that is much more evident in Barack Obama than anyone on the political
scene for a very long time, maybe since Franklin Roosevelt.
One thing Bacevich reminded us of was that Jimmy Carter was telling us the
truth in 1980 about America's malaise, and it cost him the election. American
culture is so dysfunctional and addicted to entitlement based on credit that
it is going to take "hitting bottom," as we say in 12 Step recovery groups,
before most will be willing to change direction. Telling the truth is not
popular.
President Obama will have a very difficult job, won't he? Let's help him do
it!
Love and blessings to Jack and Judy and all of you,
Jann McGuire
