G'day friends

I have elsewhere raved about the film Balibo, which I have seen twice at recent previews.

Anthony LaPaglia, soccer-loving ex-Adelaidian, is a member of the panel tonight (Thu 20 Aug) on Q&A (Question and Answer) on ABC-TV. The first questions are about the film, events of 1975 in Indonesia and East Timor / Timor Leste, and so on. LaPaglia says he did more research on this film than for any he has appeared in. He talks about the artistic license in compressing real events into an interesting artistic product. (As a current student of the methods used to interpret documents from ~2000 yrs ago, written in other languages, written not for us, and with disagreements between stories, I appreciate this issue.)

LaPaglia also has interesting comments about the past 8 years in the USA.

You can go to this website to see the program again.

For those not in Australia, Maxine McKew is a former ABC-TV journalist, now member of the ALP national government. She stood against, and defeated, former prime minister John Howard in the seat of Bennelong.

Cheers
