>The Community was stunned and saddened to hear the news of the sudden
>death of Leith Fisher, on March 13. Leith Fisher was a Church of Scotland
>minister, a hymn writer and author of Will You Follow Me?: Exploring the
>Gospel of Mark, and The Widening Road from Bethlehem to Emmaus:
>Exploring the Gospel of Luke (Scottish Christian Press). He was a Member
>of the Iona Community for over 40 years.

>David Lunan, Moderator of the Church of Scotland, wrote in his blog on the
>Church of Scotland website:

>'
Leith influenced me towards the ministry when I was a student in
>Glasgow, he married us 35 years ago during the time Leith and I worked
>together in Calton, and we have been close friends of Leith and Nonie all
>our married lives. Leith was my minister and confidant when I was Clerk at
>Glasgow Presbytery; he served on countless Church committees, wrote hymns
>which are included in CH4, published commentaries on the gospels, and gave
>his whole life to the service of God. No one was more highly regarded as a
>parish minister; he was a wonderful preacher and the most caring of pastors.
>
>I will forever be grateful for what I learned from Leith, grateful that he
>gave the charges at my ordination, and that we were friends and
>soul-mates. He was universally liked and respected, in every sense a
>minister's minister, a true servant of the Church, and a man of God.
>
>And he was very much a family man. Please hold Nonie and all the Fisher
>family in your prayers as they come to terms with the passing of a
>wonderful husband and father and grandfather, a brother and a friend and a
>brother in Christ.'
