Christmas comes in the midst of our darkness and waiting
Some of us have been physically homeless,
And many have been wandering in the desert and homeless spiritually.
Some have been cold, some without food, and many cold of heart.
Anxious and irritable, we long for the coming of a new birth among us.
And though we can argue endlessly over the historical details,
No one can deny that when Christmas comes, it’s a new reality in our midst.
Run, run as fast as you can to the cave of your heart
To behold this new being birthed in your soul.
Run, run as fast as you can to the empty tomb of your heart
To behold this new being resurrected in your soul.
