Evenin' all! I thought some of you might be interested in this review of one of Leonard Cohen's concerts in Australia, from Eureka Street, published by the Jesuits in Australia. Now retired Australian Democrats senator Andrew Bartlett wrote a great review of the tribute concert at the Festival of Sydney in January 2005 - it may be still on the internet. Some of the songs from that concert are on the I'm Your Man tribute CD. I didn't go to his concert on this tour, but did so at the Adelaide Festival Theatre 24 years ago (was it that long ago?!). Lenny lost the plot at one stage, and had t turn around to get help from the band. He'd forgotten the words to Sisters of Mercy! It reminded me of the New York Times reviews of the Rolling Stones 1979 (or was it 1980?) tour of the US - after a few shows they relaxed, started making mistakes (or improvisations?), had a good time, and put on a great show. Also coming to mind was a Kronos Quartet concert in the Adelaide Town Hall when cellist Joan Jeanrenaud came out with her colleagues after the interval, and had to go backstage to get her music - another very human touch. Then David Harrington broke a violin string, horsehair flew upwards, and he immediately refingered for three strings - that's class!

Cheers

Frank
