I read an article about Joseph Lowery on a week ago tha gave his bio. I think that it sasid that he went to Chicago Theological Seminary., which is a UCC school. While reading the article, I thought is was curious that didnit say Garrett., since he was a Methodist. He could not have been a gratuate of Chicago Ecumenical Institute as it gave no degrees that I know of mush less a doctorate of divinity.
Also there was an article in the Mobole(AL) Press Register about the church he served in Mobile during the 50's.
Several people gave fond memories of his service there and quality of his sermons. I grew up in Mobile as a Presbyterian and my "Methofist preiod"(for those of you remember that line from LIttle Big Man) was in the 60.s, so I have no real memory of him.

I received this e-mail below. Anyone have a clue about the "Chicago Ecumenical Institute" mentioned here?
I came across some information the other day for which I thought you might be able to provide some clarity.
In the attached wikipedia article about Joseph Lowery, it is stated that he received his doctorate of divinity at Chicago Ecumenical Institute. Is this OUR Ecumenical Institute?
